Agents lament low activity at Idiroko border

Again another chapter of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has complained of dull business activities.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY had recently reported that agents operating at Port Harcourt Area 4 Oil and Gas Free Zone on the platform of ANLCA had complained of low job traffic as the major challenge they face.
This time around from the western zone, complaints of low business activities has filtered in from members of the association’s Idiroko chapter.

Chairman of the chapter, Timothy Ayokunle Abel, said that smuggling activities at the border has overshadowed legal business activities.
He stated: “The border is virtually operating at snail speed due to the porosity of the area. Furthermore, most of the revenue yielding cargoes and imported vehicles are being divided to bush part through the aid of security agencies. This has an unsalutary effect on revenue generation from the command.”
