Akpobolokemi still in EFCC custody

About a week after his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the immediate past Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi is still in the custody of the anti-graft agency.

Speaking exclusively to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY yesterday, the spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren said the sacked DG was still under investigation.

Two weeks after he was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari, Akpobolokemi was arrested and detained at the office of EFCC in Ikoyi, Lagos last week on allegations of fraud.

He was supposedly being interrogated about how a whopping N13 billion was spent on the acquisition of land for the permanent site of the Nigerian Maritime University in Delta, among others.
