At a meeting initiated by National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, to honour both groups, it was established that the squabble among leaders of these two major tribal groupings within the idustry is not only a hindrance to the progress of the groups, but also to that of ANLCA whose members form the bulk of the membership of the groups.
The meeting, which held penultimate Tuesday at the ANLCA National Secretariat, after the inauguration of the newly-elected executives of the association at the Villa Park Hotel, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos, SHIPS & PORTS DAILY learnt, had both the IMF President-General, Chief Damien Obianigwe; and the OMF Leader, Chief Segun Oyeniran, in attendance.
Subject to the issue of the recently held ANLCA elections, which caused quite a ruckus within the groups, especially IMF, it was resolved, at the meeting, that none of the groups can supersede the supremacy of ANLCA and its Election Commission guidelines, more so as IMF and OMF are meant to be lobby groups within the industry and not an alternative to ANLCA.
It was gathered that the relevance of the two influential tribal groupings to ANLCA is, however, not being underestimated by the association, as the duo may likely take up key roles in the planning of the imminent ANLCA Board of Trustees (BoT) elections scheduled to hold later this year.
