  • Says one good term deserves another

National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu, yesterday publicly dropped hint of his intention of returning for a second term as president of the association.

Shittu had, at the conclusion of his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 2-day seminar on Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) yesterday at the ANLCA Murtalla Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Chapter secretariat, reminded members of the chapter that his first four-year term was drawing to a close after which he charged them to “prevail on their chapter executives that one good term deserves another.”

In his words: “Let make me make one announcement that has not been made. On behalf of my colleagues at NECOM (National Executives Committee), our tenure is coming to an end, we want you to prevail on your chapter executives that one good term deserves another.”

Shittu said the MMIA chapter was one chapter out of the seventeen chapters that has his “undivided attention and respect especially with the coming on board of its present executives.”

He commended the Nze Alloysius Igwe-led administration for the physical and human development of ANLCA MMIA chapter which he said is in tandem with the mission and vision of the National Executive Committee of ANLCA.

He said that MMIA chapter commissioning its own secretariat is a practical testimony of Alloysius Igwe’s team’s commitment towards creating a conducive environment for members to carry on their professional activities.

He said the team has also proved its loyalty to the principles of ANLCA by putting together a seminar that will develop members of the chapter professionally with a view to familiarizing them with the intricacies of the new clearance regime PAAR and how it can be used as an instrument for trade facilitation an d effective customs and airport cargo clearing procedure in Nigeria.

Earlier before Shittu speech, Customs Area Controller MMIA Command, Ndalati Garba Mohammed, had commended ANLCA for its visionary leaders comparing the present ANLCA national leadership’s visionary qualities to that of the Customs Comptroller General.

He said that PAAR regime is indigenous to the Nigeria Customs Service stating that it was as a result of the visionary leadership of the present customs administration even as he commended Alloysius Igwe and his team for carrying on this vision.

“I am delighted to be the captain of this ship where the first seminar is holding for capacity building for ANLCA members under their own roof; not a rented house,” Ndalati stated.
