Apapa court remands four stowaways

Four men, Jimoh Akeem (36), Mathew Odion (28), Sadiku Adinoyi (37) and Friday Idoko (25) were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly entering a vessel without purchasing ticket.

The four men are facing a two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and boarding a vessel without purchasing ticket.

The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 23, 2018 at APM Terminal, Berth 17, Apapa Port.

“The defendants conspired together without purchasing ticket or being a passenger of a ship entered MV Harrier Hunter with the intention of traveling to Europe,” Balogun said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 412 and 400 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendants pleaded guilty to the charges against them.

Magistrate A.S. Okubule adjourned the case till September 5, 2018 for facts and sentence
