Bauchi governor asks new NNPC GMD to live above board 

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammad Abubakar, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Kachallah Baru.

The governor thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the faith invested in indigenes of the state by appointing them in federal positions. He also told the new NNPC GMD to live above board “as a true son of Bauchi does”.

Abubakar advised Baru to discharge his duties to the best of his abilities, noting that innovative thinking and decisive strategic action are critical to the success of the oil industry in these challenging times.

The new NNPC boss thanked the governor and people of Bauchi state, and pledged to justify the confidence placed on him. He also enjoined all to collaborate with the NNPC especially in the area of energy security and protection of pipelines and other oil infrastructure. He called on improved surveillance to curb the activities of vandals.

Baru disclosed that President Buhari has ordered for intense search for hydrocarbon prospects in Chad Basin and the North Eastern part of Nigeria. He also noted that the Corporation has identified specific oil blocks in the area where some of the finds have been made and would move to reinvigorate exploration based on fresh strategy.
