Call for Dikko’s sack: People are working to blackmail me- Kanikwu

General Secretary, Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Tin Can Chapter; Davis Kanikwu has denied media reports that he was calling for the sack of the Comptroller General of Customs, Dikko Abdullahi.

Kanikwu said the report attributed to him was only meant to blackmail him saying he had at no point called for the removal of the Customs boss.

Kanikwu and the Public Relations Officer of the PTML Chapter of ANLCA, GanniAdeola were recently reported to have called for the sack of Dikko over the deployment of some officers said to be a new task force created by the Customs supremo at the ports.
But speaking with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY at the weekend, Kanikwu said he was misquoted in the report.
“I was confused. I think people are working behind blackmailing me. At no fora did I grant that kind of interview. If you read the said article, there is no place I said they should sack the man. My take is only on the trade impediment by the junior officers that were deployed to the port from PAAR office but later when they stated their mission, then everybody began working together.
“You know I have an issue with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) as a member of the ANLCA Committee on CRFFN. I know I have been hitting them so hard so that is what they are using now,”
Concerning the query he was issued by the association, Kanikwu said he has responded and explained his position in the query.
