A delegate of CILT officials led by the institute’s National Executive Director, Mr. Francis Ehiguese, had first visited the office of General Manager Western Port, Ms. Adenike Sonaike, and subsequently, that of the Port Manager Lagos Port Complex, Mr Nasir Mohammed.
The courtesy visit, according to Ehiguese, was basically to discuss with the top level NPA managers and their teams about the institute’s human capacity development initiatives and to seek their support in the implementation of two major initiatives namely the CILT Industry Leadership Lecture and CILT Competitive Edge.
Ehiguese encouraged the NPA managers to participate in the CILT Industry Leadership Lecture, which according to him, is exclusively carved out for Fellows and Corporate members of the Institute to show case experience and knowledge in their professional capacities.
He said that the initiative will not only serve as a bureau of information for the industry stakeholders but also as a platform to network with them.
He explained the CILT Competitive Edge initiative as one designed for young professional members of the institute to make seminar presentations, through which they not only identify problems inherent in the transport industry but also proffer solutions on how to address them, in a competitive manner.
Ehiguese also solicited the support of the NPA managers in the upgrading of the institute’s library known as the CILT Knowledge Centre with donations of transport related books and facilities that will enhance the learning conduciveness of the centre.
