A 35-year-old clearing agent, Chibuzor Maduagwu, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one shuttle bus in Lagos.
Maduagwu is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and forgery.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 28, 2018 at about 10am at Satellite Town, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal one shuttle bus with registration number KGE 537 XA valued at N550,000 property of Amaka Mbanoso,” Ekpo said.
The prosecutor added that the defendant forged documents to sell the shuttle bus with chasis number DA62V308240.
According to him, the offences are punishable under section 411, 287 and 365 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till September 24, 2018 for mention.
