Court resumes trial of man for stabbing female dockworker

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

An Apapa Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday resumed the trial of a 28-year-old man, Obinna Ezenwanne who was arraigned by the Police for allegedly stabbing a female dockworker at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, Apapa.

Ezenwanne is facing a one-count charge bothering on assault.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 18, 2018 at Sunrise Junction, KLT Phase 1, Apapa.

Balogun said, “The defendant stabbed one Chizoba Okafor with a bottle on her left hand which caused her grievous harm.”
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate A.S Okubule had previously granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties.

She adjourned the case till June 18, 2018 for trial.
