Court sends man to prison for stealing truck jack

A 20-year-old man, identified as Shingali Saidu, was on Tuesday remanded in prison by an Apapa Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to stealing the jack of a truck at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ejembi told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 23, 2019 at Kirikiri Bridge, Kirikiri Road, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

“The defendant stole one truck jack valued at N10,500 property of one Emmanuel Akinsamiro,” Ejembi said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate O.M Ajayi ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison until March 4, 2019 for facts and sentence.
