Three workers were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 1,500 litres of diesel.
The defendants were Christian Adojo, 36, Abarka George, 28, and Desmond Aggey, 39. They were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They all denied committing the offences.
The prosecuting counsel told the court that on March 31, 2017 at about 11pm at Atlantic Shrimper jetty, Apapa, the defendants stole 1,500 litres of diesel worth N300,000 from two ships know as Lotus III and Queen Amina that were anchored at the jetty.
The offences contravened sections 409 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr. T.O Babalola, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the matter till May 12, 2017 for mention.
In a separate matter, two truck drivers have appeared before the same court for allegedly damaging the side door glass of a Fiat T7 truck belonging to Buildwell Tractor and Equipment Company.
The defendants are Maurice Oliseh, 36 and Godwin Okoro, 42. They are both facing a four-count charge bothering on conspiracy, willful damage and stealing batteries, phones and cash.
They however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. But the prosecutor insisted that the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on March 23, 2017 at about 6am at Sand Field area Tin Can Island Port Apapa.
According to him, they willfully damaged the side door glass of the Fiat T7 truck with registration number KRD 298 XG valued at N100,000.
The prosecutor added that they the duo stole two batteries valued N130,000 property of Chukwudi Onyenanu and stole a bag containing one Tecno C10 valued N20,000, one iphone hand set valued N5,000 and the sum of N6,000 cash property of one David Isang.
He said the offences contravened Sections 409, 348, 285(1), and 278(a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Ruling on the bail application of the defendants, the Magistrate, Mr T.O Babalola, granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two reliable sureties.
He adjourned the case till May 10, 2017 for mention.
