A 19-year-old man, identified as Ahmed Ibrahim, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging five vehicles in Apapa.
Ibrahim is facing a thirteen-count charge including conspiracy, intimidation, fighting, breach of peace, cultism, possession of offensive weapons and damaging windscreens of vehicles.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 20, 2019 at about 10:50pm along Ugbonwanko Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to unlawfully damaged the front windscreen of a Vinto car valued at N30,000 property of one Isa Idris,” Inedu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant unlawfully damaged the front windscreen of a Passat car valued at N25,000 property of one Adeyemi Lasisi.
Inedu added that the defendant unlawfully damaged the front and back windscreens of a Toyota Highlander Jeep valued at N80,000 property of one Hassan Lukmon.
Other front windscreens of vehicle damaged were Toyota Camry car and T4 bus valued N42,000 and N30,000 belonging to one Okamarudeen Bakare and one Olalere Olabisi respectively.
Inedu said the defendant belong to an unlawful society without clearly defined names, with purpose of killing, injuring, encouraging killing and injuring of any person and also encouraging damages of any property.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 412, 56(1a), 52(2), 54, 44(4), 40(2b & c), 42(b), 45(1&2),51 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till February 15, 2019 for mention.
