The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone `A` Ikeja of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it intercepted goods valued at N104 million in October 2014.
Public Relations Officer of the unit, Uche Ejesieme, said in Lagos yesterday that the seizures which is against the N130.5 million worth of goods intercepted in September were as a result of the proactive measures put in place by the Controller of the Unit, Acting Comptroller Turaki Usman.
He said most of the seizures were effected along Igbesa in Ogun State and Oyo axis.
“If you look at the quality and quantity of the seizures, particularly in the months of October and September, you will see there is a very big difference. And this is so because for these two periods, particularly with the assumption of office of Comptroller Turaki Usman, he has put some proactive measures in place that have actually helped in decimating the antics of these smugglers.
“These are the two places that before now, no team have ever tried to extend their activities to those areas but because of the renewed vigor and determination, coupled with the courage of the new controller, we’ve been able to break all their pranks,” he said.
