Controller, Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Mohammed Aliyu has charged officers to display a more professional approach in the handling and usage of arms in the discharge of their duties.
Aliyu gave the charge during the retraining exercise conducted by the Nigeria Army 243 Recce Battalion Badagry, Lagos.
He said the exercise will equip officers with all the necessary knowledge and skills to help them deal with challenges that they may face in the course of discharging their duties.
Meanwhile, the command said it generated the sum of N546.8million as revenue in January representing about 81 percent of the revenue target actualized.
The command also made a total of 64 seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N18 million within the period under review.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Salenchang Taupyen, a copy of which was made available to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, quoted Aliyu as saying that the command is ready to explore all avenues in order to ensure that the target for the year is not only met but exceeded.
He said the anti-smuggling drive of the command is well fortified against smugglers noting that the clamp down on smuggling of PMS products through the creeks is a demonstration of the commands readiness to combat smuggling of any kind through the border to the barest minimum.
Aliyu expressed his readiness to reward excellent performance among officers as incentives to ensure strict compliance to extant laws and operational rules while discharging their responsibilities.
