The Nigeria Customs Service has commissioned a clinic that will cater not only for the health challenges suffered by officers but also members of the community.
Speaking at the commissioning of the clinic located at the customs training college in Ikeja on Tuesday, Zonal coordinator in charge of zone ‘A’ Assistant Comptroller General, (ACG) Victor Gbemudu said the health facility was part of the Service Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS).
Gbemudu who hailed the effort of the Comptroller General in ensuring that health care gets to the door step of officers in the zone and members of the community pointed out that the Service is not mainly concerned about revenue generation but also in promoting a healthy workforce.
“This clinic is not just to serve the customs populace but it is going to cater for the entire neighborhood in keeping with the Comptroller General’s six point’s agenda which includes Corporate Social Responsibility of the Service. More so we are not only talking about revenue, we are also talking about health care and to see how we can bridge the gap on behalf of the government to bring health care to the door step of the citizenry”, he said.
He said the clinic which has modern facility will also offer a range of care options including services for pregnant women.
He therefore urged staff of the clinic to maintain and make good use of the facility.
“We must have a maintenance culture. The Service cannot provide this entire edifice only for it to be underutilized. Make optimum use of it”, he said.
The facilities at the clinic includes a theatre, pharmacy, Haemo centrifige and Haemo Analyser machines used in analyzing blood, measuring pulse rate, heart beats, blood pressure and body mass index.
