The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated N118 billion – its highest monthly revenue collection in history.

Customs Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah disclosed this to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.

“This month, the service has generated the highest ever monthly collection. It is still three days to the end of the month,” he said.

Attah the record revenue collection was made possible by the upgrade of the Nigeria Customs Information System (NICIS).

He said the NICIS system “has now effectively blocked all the leakages that were associated with the former platform. It now monitors every kobo being collected in the system”.

The Customs spokesman said the no-nonsense stance of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, also contributed to upping the revenue profile.

Attah said the high revenue collection will assist the government to meet its promises to the citizenry in terms of infrastructure development in the face of dwindling oil revenue.
