Customs rejigs officers at Apapa Command

The Apapa Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has redeployed a number of officers heading major terminals under the command.

The redeployment, SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered, was a fallout of the directive by the Comptroller General of Customs Hameed Ali during his visit to Lagos that officers should not be allowed to remain in a particular post for too long.

Confirming the development in a chat with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY in his office on Tuesday, Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Willy Egbudin said the changes were aimed at repositioning the command for greater performance especially in the area of revenue generation.

According to him, officers should not be left for too long in their “comfort zones”.

He said, “It is an internal posting in the command and it is done to reposition the command.

“Officers should not be left in their comfort zone for too long and we feel there is need to give opportunity to other officers and try new hands.”

Some of the terminal heads affected are Deputy controller in charge of APM Terminals; DC Export Seat; DC Denca and DC Duncan.

Others are DCs are those in charge of Michelle bonded terminal and ABTL/ Greenview terminals among others.
