Customs seizes 714 jerry cans of vegetable oil in Sokoto

The Federal Operation Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service in charge of Zone ‘B’ has intercepted 714 jerry cans of vegitable oil  with the duty paid value of over nine million Naira.

The seized items were displayed before newsmen at the Sokoto zonal command of the Service.

Comptroller Usman Dakingari said the oil was intercepted along Sokoto-Illela road three days ago.

He stressed that vegetable oil in retail form was not allowed into the country.

Other items seized include bales of second hand clothes, some drugs, and bags of sugar.

Dakingari said that the drugs would be handed to NAFDAC for further action.

He attributed the success being recorded by the zone to timely motivation of their men, saying their salary and allowances were paid promptly.

He called on smugglers to desist from the illegal business and join hand with the federal government to promote made in Nigerian goods.
