Dangote employees docked for stealing 50 bags of Dangote flour

Two Dangote Group employees were arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court 8 sitting in Lagos on Thursday. They were docked for allegedly stealing 50 bags of Dangote flour valued at N550,000.00. 

The employees were Victor Ekha, 28 and Jerusalem Ogunbajo, 38. Both pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecuting counsel, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 19, 2017 at about 6:50am at Dangote Flour, Apapa. 

The offences contravened sections 409 and 285 (5b) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mr. T.O Babalola, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case till July 10, 2017 for mention.

In a related development, 36-year-old Wakibu Adebayo was arraigned before the court for allegedly stealing two bags of crude raw salt.

He pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecuting counsel, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 20, 2017 at about 2am at Access Road, Apapa.

Balogun added that the defendant stole two bags of crude raw salt valued at N7,000 property of Dangote Company.

He said the offence contravened section 285 (5c) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

Counsel to the defendant, Dadi Mannap prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms considering the value of the unrefined salt stolen.

The Magistrate, Mr. T.O Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety.

The case was adjourned till July 10, 2017.
