Driver in court for hitting truck pusher

Man steals vital documents, laptop from Naval officer
A 25-year-old truck driver, Emmanuel Okolo, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting a truck pusher at Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
Okolo is facing a one-count charge bordering on accident.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 25, 2018 at about 2pm along Kirikiri Bridge, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

The defendant being the driver in charge of Mack truck with registration number Lagos KJA 782 XE drove on the highway in a careless manner hitting a truck pusher, one Ibrahim Zaradeen, which caused him grievous harm on his chest,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 7, Cap 18 of the Road Traffic Act 2003 Laws of Lagos State.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate, K. A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till November 22, 2018 for mention.
