A retired Customs officer, Faruk Umaru, and his wife, Nasara Yusuf, have died in a fire that gutted their house in the Nasarawa area of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The wife, Nasara Yusuf, was until her death the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Primary School Staff Pension Board.
Umaru was 63 years old while his wife was 53. They are survived by 13 children.
Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has condoled with the family of the deceased couple.
The state Deputy Governor, Samaila Yombe Dabai, Emir of Gwandu Alhajj Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, and Chief of staff Government House, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, were among government officials who attended the funeral prayers for the couple, which was led by the Chief Imam and Emir of Gwandu Jumma’at Mosque, Alhaji Lawal.
