A former head of discipline inspection group at China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC) will be charged with corruption following an investigation that started in November last year.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), the highest internal control body of the Communist Party of China (CPC), informed CSIC that Liu Changhong’s case has been scheduled to be trialed by the court.
The CCDI said Liu has been sacked from his position as party committee member of the CPC. The 56-year-old Liu had held the party committee member position and the head of discipline inspection group at CSIC since May 2011.
In a statement, the CCDI said, “Liu is in serious violation of discipline and had used his authority at CSIC to reap personal gains and accepted bribes.”
The anti-corruption body pointed out that it had twice dispatched inspection groups to CSIC during the periods of February-April 2015 and March-April 2017, reminding the senior management of the shipbuilding group to refrain from violation of party discipline.
“Some leaders (of CSIC) were found to have a weak sense of discipline, and some have abused their authority for personal gains,” CCDI stated.
