Four truck drivers docked for driving against traffic at Apapa

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

Four truck drivers have been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly driving in the opposite direction against traffic.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Olusegun Kokoye told the court that Madu Ako, 36, Ogunlowa Idowu, 50, Ibrahim Maduda, 30 and Salisu Sumaila, 32 committed the offence on November 24, 2017 at about6:30am along Marine Beach Junction, Apapa.

Kokoye said each of the truck drivers drove their trucks on the public highway in a dangerous, reckless manner and drove against traffic along Marine Beach Junction, Apapa.

Ako drove Mack Truck with registration number APP 435 XL, while Idowu, Maduda and Sumaila drove DAF Truck with registration number DKA 248 XA, MNA 408 XV and DAL 27 XA respectively.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened No. 4 Section 20 Vol. 45 Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge brought against them.

In his ruling, Magistrate Abiodun Etti granted each defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety.

He adjourned the case till December 21, 2017 for mention.
