Man steals vital documents, laptop from Naval officer

A 36-year-old transport manager, Patrick Oboghor, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a container with goods valued at N27 million.

Oboghor is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ejembi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 21, 2018 at about 2pm at GMT, no 42, Burma Road, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal a container with goods valued at N27 million property of FriesLand Limited,” Ejembi said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate O. A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N800,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government. 

She adjourned the case till November 6, 2018 for mention.
