Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, says she remains committed to the ideals of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign group.
Usman, a co-founder of BBOG, was appointed NPA Managing Director on July 11, 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari. Before her appointment, she had actively participated in most activities aimed at persuading government to intensify effort for return of over 200 high school girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from their hostel in Chibok, Borno State in 2014.
While speaking on a live television programme in Lagos on Wednesday, Usman said she remains actively involved in the BBOG campaign despite her official call of duty as head of the nation’s ports authority.
She said, “My role in the rescue of the Chibok girls is still ongoing. I have my badge which I wear on a daily basis.
“I am now living in Lagos, I try to attend the Falomo weekly meeting that we hold on Bring Back Our Girls.
“You know, advocacy is something that should not die down. It is something that we should sustain.
“The campaign for the Chibok girls is for the rescue of every other person that has been held captive by Boko Haram and it is also to support our military to ensure that the insurgency is brought to an end.
“So I will ensure that I raise my voice for the Chibok girls and for every other person that has been held captive by Boko Haram.”
