The judiciary workers strike, under the aegis of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), called off on Tuesday affected the trial of some alleged touts arrested in a joint raid by Personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Police force at the Tin Can Island Port.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY reliably gathered that of the 88 persons arrested last month, 37 persons are still cooling their heels at the police cell and the Maximum Security prison in Kirikiri.
It was learnt that 12 out of the suspects who are under the Custody of the Nigeria Customs Service, although have means of identification, will be facing trial at the Federal High court to ascertain the legitimacy of their documents.
The remaining 25 suspects in the police cell with no form of identification will be arraigned before a Magistrate court in Igbosere.
While the court case of the 25 suspects comes up on March 22nd, no new date has however been communicated for the delivery of the judgment of persons arrested with identity card.
