The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), in collaboration with other traffic and security agencies in Lagos, has announced the restriction of truck movement within the metropolis on February 1, 2, 8 and 9.

The restriction is as a result of the hosting of the 2019 Lagos marathon on Saturday (today).

However, the restriction was not effective on Friday February 1 as many trucks were seen moving freely on Lagos roads.

Lagos State Sector Commander of FRSC, Hyginus Omeje, said the decision to restrict the truck movement was reached at the end of a meeting of heads of security and traffic management agencies in the state.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps wishes to inform the motoring public that there will be restrictions of movement for trailers, tankers and other articulated vehicles into Lagos state on the following days: February 1, 2, 8 and 9.

“This decision is in the general interest of the motoring public and also targeted at ensuring the free flow of traffic and forestall security breaches on the highways and other roads on the stated days,” Omeje said on Wednesday.
