MAAN holds annual workshop, celebrates 10th anniversary

 

The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) will hold its 5th Annual one-day workshop. The Workshop is scheduled for Friday, the 20th of November, 2015 at the Tinuade Oyekunle Hearing Room, The International Centre for Arbitration and ADR, Lekki.

Also scheduled for the same day is a luncheon to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the association which would hold at the same venue at 2pm.

The one day workshop is designed to provide participants with deep insight regarding ADR and Arbitration in the Maritime industry.

The workshop brings together a wide range of interesting topics presented by leading practitioners in the field of Arbitration/ ADR. The topics to be discussed at this year’s Workshop are:

  • The Role of Tribunal Registrars in Maritime Arbitration – A Practitioner’s Perspective;
  • The Role of Tribunal Registrars in Maritime Arbitration – A Young Members Perspective;
  • Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Development Act 2010 – Its Implications for Alternative Dispute Resolution – A Legal Perspective; and
  • Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Development Act 2010 – Its Implications for Alternative Dispute Resolution – A Regulator’s Perspective.

The Speakers are Mrs. Obosa Akpata, Greg Nwakogo, Dr Omogbai Omo-Eboh and Mrs. Rose Chukwuonwe.

The workshop is open to maritime industry stakeholders, insurance brokers, insurers, banks and financial institutions, vessel charterers and charter brokers, freight forwarders, cargo owners, maritime lawyers, marine surveyors, shipbuilders and repairers, port authorities, terminal operators, ship owners and all other persons involved in arbitration/ADR or interested in gaining knowledge in the field with particular interest in maritime arbitration.
