Man arraigned for stealing container, truck

A 35-year-old man identified as Yinka Odeleye, was arraigned in Apapa Magistrate’s Court, Lagos yesterday for allegedly stealing an empty 40 foot container worth N2 million, PVC chemical valued at N10 million and a Mack Truck costing N1.5 million.

He pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge brought against him.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the accused conspired with others on January 9 at about 11:30pm at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa to steal an empty 40-foot container and PVC chemical belonging to V. Logic Company.

He also allegedly stole a Mack truck with registration number AAA 276 XC belonging to one Agboola Abdulahi.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene sections 409 and 285 (1) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Alaka granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case till February 7 for mention.

Another suspect identified as Aderanti Adebayo (28) was arraigned on January 24 before Magistrate (Mrs) Osho-Adebiyi on the same case.

Adebayo pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge brought against him.

Mrs Osho-Adebiyi granted him bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties.
