An Apapa Magistrates’ Court presided over by Mr. O.S Abioye on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old man, Mohammed Sodiq, to 49 hours of community service for theft at the Apapa port.
Abioye ordered the accused to spend the 49 hours at the laundry section of the Ajeromi General Hospital.
It would be recalled that the accused was arraigned before the Court for allegedly stealing armoured cables valued at N300,000 belonging to Dangote Flour Mills.
The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the accused committed the offences on August 25, 2018 at about 8:30am at Terminal E of Lags Port Complex, Apapa, operated by Greenview Development Nigeria Limited, which is owned by the Dangote Group.
“The accused conspired with others at large to steal armoured cables valued at N300,000 property of Dangote Flour Mills,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 (5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
