A 37-year-old man, identified as Richard Achere, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Bajaj motorcycle belonging to a female transport manager in Apapa.

Achere is facing a one-count of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Donjor Perezi told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 15, 2019 at about 9am in Ajegunle, Apapa.

“The defendant stole one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KJA 415 QM valued at N402,000 property of one Christiana Owhere,” Perezi said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government with six months bank statement.

She adjourned the matter till March 19, 2019 for mention.
