Man gets 38 hours community service for stealing car part

An Apapa Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos, on Monday sentenced a 19-year-old man, Sunday Abraham, to 38 hours of community service for pleading guilty to stealing the part of Rav4 SUV.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 14, 2019 at about 12pm at TREM church, Opposite Peridot Filling Station, Amuwo-Odofin/Festac Link Road, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal the cover of Rav4 Jeep valued at N25,000 property of one Lilian Ario,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Upon the guilty plea by the defendant, Magistrate Oluwatope Olorunfemi sentenced the accused to 38 hours of community service within the court premises.
