Man pleads guilty to burglary, stealing phone, money

A 26-year-old man, Dayo Olabusoye, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a padlock, stealing phone and money in Apapa.

Olabusoye is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 23, 2019 at about 8:30am at 7/9 Akinbo Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully and maliciously damaged a padlock valued at N1,700, stole one Infinix Hot 6 phone valued at N46,000 and physical cash of N4,000 property of Chiboy Obasi,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate B.M. Amore adjourned the matter till February 20, 2019 for facts and sentence.
