Man steals bags of fish head at Nigerdock

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 32-year-old man, identified as Chukwuemeka Egwu, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing bags of fish head at Nigerdock, Apapa.

Egwu is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 19, 2018 at about 5pm at Niger Dock, Apapa.

“The defendant stole bags of head of fish whose value is yet unknown property of Hydrodive Shipping Company,” Inedu said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.

He adjourned the matter till November 23, 2018 for mention.
