Man steals brain box of Toyota car

A 38-year-old man identified as Lawal Adeyinka was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ for allegedly stealing a N60,000 brain box of a Toyota Corolla Saloon Car in Lagos.

Adeyinka is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and willful damage.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 11, 2019 at about 4:05pm at Clarion Shipping Limited premises, Alakija, Lagos.

“The defendant stole a brain box valued at N60,000 from an unregistered white colour Toyota Corolla Saloon Car that was under the care of Clarion Shipping Ltd, being represented by one Spy Police Constable, Ikenna Anozie,” Inedu said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant willfully and unlawfully destroyed or caused damage to the rear side glass of a white colour unregistered Toyota Corolla Saloon Car that was under the care of Clarion Shipping Ltd.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till February 15, 2019 for mention.
