25 injured as explosion rocks passenger ferry

No fewer than 25 passengers sustained injuries in an explosion that ripped through a ferry on Wednesday while passengers were disembarking in Playa del Carmen, a popular resort in Mexico, according to government sources. 

Based on the initial reports, there have been no fatalities and the majority of injured passengers, which include 20 tourists and five Mexicans, reported minor injuries.

However, one passenger of Mexican nationality was said to have sustained second and third degree facial burns and is in critical condition.

The ferry isbelongs to a company named Barcos Caribe.

Police authorities have commenced investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the blast.
