A South Korean military fighter jet on Thursday, crashed in the south-eastern region of the country with no casualty identified yet, multiple local media reported citing the country’s, Air Force.
The F-15K fighter jet, which took off from a military airbase in Daegu city, North Gyeongsang province at 1:30 p.m. local time (0430 GMT), crashed in Chilgok county in the same province, some 290 km southeast of Seoul, at around 2:38 p.m.
The actual status of the two pilots aboard the crashed jet are yet to be confirmed.
The combat aeroplane was on its way back to the air base after finishing a mission, when the accident occurred. The aircraft was believed to have fallen down into a mountain of the county.
It marked the first time since June 2006 when the F-15K fighter jet, a major South Korean combat aeroplane, crashed. South Korea’s military is reportedly operating about 60 F-15K combat planes.
The latest fighter jet crash took place in March 30, 2016, when an F-16D fighter jet crashed in the north-eastern area.
