Motorboys charged for attempted robbery at Tin Can Port

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

Two motor-boys namely Mutiu Olaleye (19) and Opadola Yakubu (22) were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to rob one Alhaji Abdulahi Diki and his workers of their money and other valuables at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa

Olaleye and Yakubu are facing two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery.

The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 26, 2018 at about 6:30am at Abuja Truck Park, Tin Can Island, Apapa.

Esebamen said, “The defendants conspired together to armed themselves with cutlass, wood and other incriminating items attempted to rob one Alhaji Abdulahi Diki and his workers of their money, phones, wrist watches and other valuables.”

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 299 and 298 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The Magistrate, Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.

She adjourned the case till June 27, 2018 for mention.
