NDLEA docks 25 year old man for illicit drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday arraigned a-25 year old man, Ibrahim Mohammed before Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on a one-count charge of allegedly dealing in illicit drugs.

The accused was arrested on the 15th of April, 2016 at Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos State.

The Prosecutor for NDLEA, Jeremiah Iorwa Aernan said, “Without lawful authority, Mohammed dealt in 500 grammes of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.”

However, the accused had no counsel and without waste of time pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Justice Buba, tempering justice with mercy, sentenced him to one year in prison, starting from the date of his arrest.
