Head, Hydrographic Services Department of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Sunday Daniel Atakpa, was yesterday decorated with his new rank of Navy Captain by the Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi.
Atakpa was promoted from the rank of a Commander to a Captain of the Nigerian Navy.
A Masters Holder in Hydrographic Survey (MHS), Atakpa has headed the Hydrographic Services Department of NIMASA since August this year.
The newly decorated Navy Captain specializes in Hydrography and is a member of the National Hydrographic Society. He had also been decorated with the Forces Service Star (FSS) and a Pass Staff Course Double Daggar.
Atakpa was the best overall winner of the 1st edition of the Ships & Ports Annual National Essay Competition in 2007.
