Ogbeifun denies eyeing Chamber of Shipping presidency

Marine Engineer and Chief Executive of Starzs Investment Group, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, has denied seeking the presidency of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS).
Ogbeifun, along with three other indigenous operators, was reported by a maritime tabloid (not SHIPS & PORTS DAILY) as one of those jostling to take over the presidency of NCS which became vacant following the demise of the incumbent, Vice Admiral Michael Akhigbe, last year.

Akhigbe, who took over from Chief Oscar Ibru, died in the United States of America (USA) after a protracted battle with cancer.

“They are trying to rope me into it and I’ve told them I am not interested,” Ogbeifun told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY.

Ogbeifun however said that he is interested in running for the chairmanship of the Nigerian Ship Owners Association (NISA) when the time comes.
According to him, many Nigerian ship owners have a lot of expectations on the way forward for the maritime sector.
“I strongly believe that this can be accomplished if we have an association of Nigerian ship owners that is up and doing in terms of our set goals and objectives. We should not leave any stone unturned in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerian ship owners as Nigeria nay Nigerians stand to gain tremendously if this is done,” he said.
