Former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Temisan Omatseye yesterday accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of delaying his trial.
The commission re-arraigned Omatseye before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia on an amended 27-count charges bordering on contract scam.
He pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
His re-arrangement followed the transfer of the former trial judge, Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako.
EFCC accused Omatseye of illegal transfer of NIMASA’s fund and contract splitting estimated at over N15 billion.
The trial was billed to continue Monday, but EFCC’s lawyer, Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), was absent.
Omatseye’s lawyer Mr. Olusina Sofola (SAN), said his client deserved speedy trial, adding that the EFCC was delaying the case by always seeking adjournments
