Man pleads guilty to stealing eight truck batteries

A 21-year-old man, identified as Uche Nbanifo, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing eight truck batteries valued at N200,000.

Nbanifo is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 12, 2018 at about 4:30am at 16, Burma Road, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others to break into the building situated at 16, Burma Road, Apapa and stole eight batteries valued at N200,000 property of IAL Nigeria Limited,” Onaiwu said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 307 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate O.S Abioye adjourned the matter till December 12, 2018 for facts and sentences.
