Police arraign driver for stealing N9m truck

A 37-year-old truck driver, Friday Amuerodah, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Mack truck valued at N9 million at Kirikiri.

Amuerodah is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 5, 2019 at about 3pm at Kirikiri.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Mack truck with registration number LSR 294 XD valued at N9 million property of one Augustine Erhabor,” Inedu said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till February 2, 2019 for mention.
