A 25-year-old man, identified as Abdullahi Lawal, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly wearing the Nigerian Army uniform in Apapa.
Lawal is facing a two-count charge bordering on impersonation and unlawful possession of Nigerian Army camouflage.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 21, 2019 at about 12:30pm at Maza-Maza Bus stop, Apapa.
“The defendant unlawfully wore the Nigerian Army uniform and had in his possession the Nigerian Army camouflage with its face cap,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 78 and 330 (9) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum by Magistrate B.M Amore.
One of the sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be a Civil Servant not lower than Grade Level 7.
He adjourned the matter till March 19, 2019 for mention.
