Police arrest four over container diversion from Apapa

Two men, Okafor Sunday Samuel (21) and Chibuke Azuna (22), were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing $1,400 and N91,000 at an hotel in Lagos.

The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on June 5, 2019 at Plot 3522, Divine Estate EUC Hotel, Amuwo-Odofin, Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal the sum of $1,400 and N91,000 property of one Daisy Nwaoma,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Magistrate Remilekun Ojodun granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

One of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendants.

He adjourned the case till July 19, 2019 for mention.
