Police arraign truck driver for traffic offences

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud
A 30-year-old truck driver, Kabiru Yisa, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly driving recklessly and causing accident in the Apapa area of Lagos State.

Yisa is facing a two-count charge bordering on reckless driving and causing an accident.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 19, 2018 at about 9:15am along Liverpool Road, Apapa.

“The defendant, being the driver of a Mack truck with registration number LSD 213 XR, drove the truck on the public highway in a dangerous and reckless manner to other road users,” Ekpo said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant drove same vehicle on the public highway and caused an accident.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections Law No 4 section 16 and 24 Vol 45 Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

She adjourned the case till December 14, 2018 for mention.
