Police arraign two for stealing motorcycle, phones in Apapa

Two men namely, Mohammed Lawal (24) and Bunu Bukar (23), were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing motorcycle and phones in Apapa.

Lawal and Bukar are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 31st, 2019 at Airways, Apapa.

“The defendants conspired together with others at large to jointly team up together to beat up Mr. Cyrin Jonah and Mr. Adebayo Adenuga,” Onaiwu said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendants stole a motorcycle valued at N200,000, a Nokia 5 valued at N300,000 property of Mr Jonah and a Galaxy Note 4 valued at N68,000 property of Mr Adenuga.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 173 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till February 21, 2019 for mention.
