Ports to operate round the clock during holidays

The approaching festive holidays will not deter 24 hours operation at the nation’s seaports as has been indicated by the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) in a recent letter to the Managing Director Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The letter dated December 9, 2013 and signed by the Secretary of the Association, Barrister Boye Uzamot, said that members of the association will continue to provide port services even during the coming Christmas and New Year public holidays.

“We therefore wish to let you know that our facilities will be open during the said period in order to reduce the seeming congestion in the port usually associated with the yuletide period” Uzamot stated.

The association had also urged all stakeholders to be available for work during the period as “our members shall not take any blame for any seeming congestion come January 2014.”
